Overview
Partnered with Versus NYC on what was likely one of the first 100 Vegas Sphere projects globally. This project holds special significance as one of my first design assignments where I was encouraged to use AI as a tool to create design sequences, not as final output but as blueprint for the CGI design team to build upon.
The Challenge
At a time when most commercial projects viewed AI with skepticism or avoided it entirely, this project required pioneering a hybrid approach: using generative AI for rapid design exploration and concept development, then translating those explorations into high-fidelity CGI execution. The challenge was proving that AI could serve as a powerful ideation and R&D tool without compromising final quality.
The Approach
Used AI-generated concepts to provide creative direction and visual targets that the CGI team could execute with full technical control. This methodology proved that AI and traditional craft can enhance each other rather than compete.
The Result
One of the first 100 Vegas Sphere projects globally, demonstrating early platform adoption and pioneering commercial AI integration before it was industry standard. The project earned T-Mobile's confidence in an experimental approach and established partnership with Versus NYC that encouraged AI exploration.
Strategic Context
This 2023 project demonstrates the model that synthetic production should follow: AI as augmentation tool, not replacement. The best workflows don't ask "AI or traditional craft?" They ask "how do AI tools accelerate ideation while traditional craft ensures quality?" This hybrid approach (AI for speed and exploration, craft for refinement and quality) will be the winning strategy.
