The Brief
In early 2024 Fellowship AI invited a curated group of artists to create short films for Tales from the Cryptids, an exhibition exploring folklore through generative filmmaking.
The brief was open. The constraint was the subject: cryptid mythology.

The Film
Point Pleasant, West Virginia. 1960s.
A group of teenagers discovers Mothman in an abandoned TNT factory. Not a monster, but an interdimensional being stranded and trying to find his way home. He becomes their mentor. They become his protectors. When tragedy strikes with the collapse of the Silver Bridge in 1967, the town turns against him prompting him to disappear, leaving behind only a note and a legacy.
The narrative weaves actual Mothman folklore and the real Silver Bridge tragedy with the visual language of Dune: a deliberate collision of American mythology and science fiction that gave the story both historical weight and cosmic scope.
The Approach
The production followed a traditional film pipeline: visual development and styleframes, script development and screenwriting, voice performance, shot-by-shot video generation.
The music score was composed from scratch. Six original pieces crafted to carry the emotional weight of the story.
