Overview
My first Generative AI fine art project dating late 2022, Formation is a digital art series exploring the questions that have always sat at the edge of human consciousness. Where do we come from? Is there other life beyond our own? Through a diverse range of observers, each piece reaches toward a universal audience across cultures and perspectives.
Each piece carries a quiet visual argument: that the cosmic and the human are not separate scales but the same pattern at different magnitudes.
The series bridges over a decade of digital and analog practice with the emerging potential of generative AI. Every composition is refined by hand, making each work a singular object rather than a straight generated output.
Approach
Formation was made at a precise moment in the history of generative art. MidJourney V4 had just made photographic believability possible for the first time. Before it, AI imagery still read as AI. After it, the conversation changed entirely. This series exists at that threshold.
The Result
The first six works debuted exclusively with Guy Hepner Gallery in New York City in January 2023.
Developed in late 2022, the full series of 100 one-of-one pieces launched in Spring 2023 as both a digital NFT and physical series, generating over 11 ETH in primary sales without an intermediary platform or gallery.
A one-year anniversary edition of limited prints has since shipped worldwide.
